Many non-governmental organisations (NGOs) collaborate with companies and actively seek out sponsors and donors. The issue here for NGOs is deciding which companies they can work with. Should an NGO working primarily in the climate protection field accept donations from an oil company, or a cancer research organisation collaborate with a tobacco company? These are just a couple of striking examples highlighting the reputational risks facing NGOs in this area. It is therefore important to exclude unsuitable corporate partners or specifically to seek out suitable companies. Moreover, larger NGOs, in particular, also have short- and medium-term capital investments which need to be invested in line with the organisation’s mission.
